Blog Tagged: Lisa Picarille - Five Things You Don’t Know About Me

By Lisa Picarille

December 19th, 2006

I’ve been out of the loop for several days now. I had some surgery last Thursday and have been recovering (and frantically wrapping gifts). That’s my excuse for not immediately responding to being blog-tagged by three different people: Shawn Collins, Scott Jangro and Anik Singal.

BTW: Last night at our company’s holiday party I brought up the blog-tagged concept as a way to get co-workers that I didn’t know much about to reveal five things about themselves. We ended up going around the entire room and laughing very, very hard. But, watch out what you ask for. Although I found out some interesting personal things, there were other items I might have been better off not knowing about my colleagues.

Since this list is for public consumption, and unlike my co-workers, these tidbits about me are not being divulged after consuming lots of holiday libations, they are pretty tame.

1. I am deathly afraid of Martin Sheen. I can’t even include a link here because then I’d have to Google him and possibly see a photo of him. I can’t see any movie he’s in or listen to his voice in commercials. I think it all started when I was a kid and he played the neighborhood pedophile to Jodie Foster in “The Little Girl Who Lived Down the Lane.” I’ve had many friends who think it would be the height of hilarious hijinks to imbibe in lots of alcohol with me and then casually slip “Apocalypse Now” into the DVD player. Not a good idea.

2. I have hit a baseball off future hall-of-famer Roger Clemens in Fenway Park. That’s right, Fenway Frickin’ Park. Sacred ground for us life-long BoSox fans. I was a young sportswriter in Boston and covered the Red Sox as the second writer (the color story). I became good friends with a relief pitcher named Joe Sambito and he took me onto the field to hit off The Rocket. My preparation for that amazing moment all started years before when I was the first girl in the state to play Little League baseball.

3. I am a freak about dental hygiene. I carry a toothbrush in my purse and car. I also have one in my desk drawer. I brush my teeth too many times a day. I am also obsessed with trying new dental products (picks, cleaners, floss, tongue scrapers). Whenever I go home I must visit this store. I’ve only had one cavity in my life.

4. When I have to write any long story I do it between the hours of 1 a.m. and 8 a.m. I put on headphones and listen to the same song over and over and over again at earsplitting levels. I always pick a song that I know well (something from the Beastie Boys, Foo Fighters, Beck, Elvis Costello, White Stripes, etc.). Sometimes I’ll end up listening to the same song 60 or 70 times before the story is done. At that point I don’t even hear it, it’s just background noise. However, I think you can tell when you read certain things I’ve written if the Beasties were involved.

5. I own more than 150 pairs of shoes.

Okay, enough boring stuff about me. Oh, wait; there is one more thing. It’s the Affiliate Thing actually. On the Affiliate Thing (http://www.blogtalkradio.com/affiliate-thing) podcast this week, Shawn Collins and I will be interviewing a former network executive. His voice will be disguised, but he is the real deal. He claims to know where all the bodies are buried, according to Shawn. Listen at noon on Wednesday at BlogTalkRadio.com. Call in at 646-915-9599 and ask some questions of your own.

I almost forgot; here’s who I’m blog tagging: Sean Crotty; Larry Adams; Vinny Lingham and Mike Moran.

I’m supposed to tag five people, but it seems that most bloggers I know have already been tagged – some multiple times.

Tell me something interesting about you. lisap@revenuetoday.com

    I’ve now been tagged!

I have been trying to avoid this, but alas, to no avail. Jeremy Palmer tagged me. If you have no idea what I’m talking about, basically there is this thing going around where you have to tell your readers 5 things about yourself if someone tags …
